3rd Annual Negro League "Remembering the History" Black-Tie Gala and Silent Auction
Honor the past and strengthen the future: The purpose of the Josh Gibson Foundation’s Third Annual Negro League “Remembering the History” Black-Tie Gala & Silent Auction was to do just that. About 325 guests spent a notable night at the Senator John Heinz History Center as a “tribute to the Major League Baseball players, and to also educate the youth in our Foundation about the importance of baseball,” says the Foundation’s executive director Sean L. Gibson. The event was enhanced by keynote speaker and San Francisco Giants Hall of Famer Juan Marichal and emcee and ESPN SportsCenter anchor Jay Harris. The Foundation raised funds to benefit its afterschool, athletic, and scholarship programs, as well as the establishment of a history and learning center. In addition, the Foundation presented two students with $1,000 college scholarships.
