A Bastille Day Celebration - 7/14/10
A Bastille Day Celebration
Voilà! French enthusiasts gathered in Schenley Plaza for the third annual Bastille Day Celebration to commemorate the storming of the Bastille during the French Revolution. One hundred and forty guests enjoyed a classic French strolling picnic while listening to live music from Steve Vance’s French bistro style trio. A mime, a caricature artist, and a friendly lawn game of Pétanque kept the evening entertaining. Guests also bid on 26 silent auction prizes, which included Pittsburgh Ballet tickets, Bottega Veneta wallets, vintage French wine, and two round trip tickets to Paris, courtesy of Delta Airlines. “The Alliance Française de Pittsburgh was pleased to collaborate with the Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy for this very successful fête celebrating ‘le quatorze juillet,’” says Barbara MacQuown Tucker, Présidente of the Alliance Française de Pittsburgh. “We were also pleased to welcome Monsieur Michel Havard, Député du Rhône, and Conseiller Municipal de Lyon to the festivities.” All proceeds benefited the Alliance Française de Pittsburgh and the Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy.
