H'Art and Soul of Haiti - 9/10/10
H’Art & Soul of Haiti
In a continuing effort to increase awareness and support of Haiti, while celebrating Haitian art and culture, the Friends of Hôpital Albert Schweitzer Haiti held its 10th annual H’Art & Soul of Haiti gala. More than 400 people gathered at the Ellis Armory in Shadyside to enjoy an eclectic sensory experience featuring Haitian artwork and photography, Haitian-inspired cuisine, and music by electro-folk duo Dean & Britta. The event raised $300,000 for Hôpital Albert Schweitzer Haiti, which has experienced increased strain on its operating budget due to the earthquake in January. “It’s been a tremendously challenging year,” says Natalie Hoffman, managing partner of Linden Partners Consultants, which works in conjunction with Friends of Hôpital Albert Schweitzer Haiti. “We’re pleased with the support from Pittsburgh and the foundations in Pittsburgh that came to our rescue.”
