Steel City Big Pour - 9/12/09
Construction Junction, the non-profit building material reuse retailer in Point Breeze, welcomed 1,300 beer lovers together for two sessions at the Steel City Big Pour. Attendees sampled craft and organic brews from 32 breweries — and bites from area restaurants, including Bocktown Beer & Grill, Giant Eagle Market District, Mad Mex, Penn’s Corner Farm Alliance, and Six Penn Kitchen. Soul and funky blues band Hoodoo Drugstore played, while guests took in a chainsaw carving by Rick and Liz Boni and a concrete pour by Chris Rhodes and Daviea Davis, as well as a raffle for a deluxe kegerator to raise funds for Construction Junction. Still, the best part of the evening was “lots of good beer and good food,” says event organizer and Construction Junction board member David Lagnese. Photography by Rachel Stadelmeier
