2008 Dapper Dan Dinner & Sports Auction : Dapper Dan Charities got into the festive spirit, celebrating Pittsburgh 250 for its annual fundraising event: the 2008 Dapper Dan Dinner & Sports Auction. 2008 Pittsburgh Muscle Team Event : In benefit of the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA), the fourth annual Pittsburgh Muscle Team Event brought 500 guests to the Lexus Club at PNC Park. Fly WT Airlines : The destination for Winchester Thurston School’s spring benefit was technically the Winchester Thurston Upper School, but 325 guests with “passports” in hand took in the sights, sounds, and flavors from Argentina, China, France, Jamaica, Morocco, Scotland, Thailand, and Pittsburgh, too. Gumbo Fest : In the Holy Rosary School Gymnasisum, the Afro-American Music Institute commemorated its 25th anniversary with the annual Louisi Ann’s Gumbo Fest benefit. The event, supported by the Heinz Endowment Small Arts Initiative, benefited and supported the Afro-American Music Institute, which strives to preserve the heritage of African-American music through events, performances, and instruction. Pittsburgh Promenade 2008 : The Pittsburgh Promenade is the biggest fundraising event for ACHIEVA Pittsburgh, an organization that provides support and services to area residents with disabilities and their families.
