Cummerbund Society Pool Tournament - 1/14/10
Dapper tuxedos, flashy cummerbunds, the memory of billowing cigar smoke, and 39 pool-stick-toting men dedicated to a common cause — this was the scene found at the 22nd Annual Cummerbund Society Pool Tournament. The tournament, held annually at The Duquesne Club, benefited Magee-Womens Hospital Neo-Natal Care Unit, just as it has every year since its inception. This year, the Cummerbund Society raised $13,133 while shooting pool and looking sharp in their formal attire. President of Print Tech Bob Weingard came in first place, followed by Tom Armstrong as runner-up. “I think it is one of Pittsburgh's most unusual events,” says Cummerbund Society president Mac McIlrath. “Over the past 22 years, we've raised more than $130,000.” Photography by Megan Wylie
