Cinderella Ball - 1/30/10
Twenty glittering princesses held their breath and channeled their fairy godmothers as Prince Charming reached into a glowing pumpkin and selected the evening's Cinderella. The debutantes of the 84th Annual Cinderella Ball, held at the Omni William Penn Hotel, then watched as Taylor Judith Linaburg was given the title of Cinderella, a Tiffany bracelet, and a waltz to “Someday My Prince Will Come” with her very own Prince Charming, David John Egan, Jr. The ball, attended by 495 guests, was held to recognize the young women as they were presented to society. Each girl was required to volunteer time to the ball's chosen beneficiary, the Pittsburgh Zoo and PPG Aquarium, which received 700 hours of volunteer service from the debutantes. A scholarship from the Cinderella Women's Committee is given to the debutante who has volunteered above what is required. This year's scholarship winner, Elizabeth Rae Diggs, contributed 84 hours. “The Cinderella Ball is not only an exquisite event, but also contributes to the community by virtue of the debutantes contributing their time and effort volunteering to the beneficiary,” says publicity co-chair Catherine Loevner.
