Life on Mars: Carnegie International Gala Benefit and Preview
Held at the Carnegie Museum of Art. More than 900 guests from both Pittsburgh and around the world attended the VIP reception, mingling with museum director Richard Armstrong and the International’s curator, Douglas Fogle, who presented the museum’s established $10,000 Carnegie Prize to Latvian-born artist Vija Clemins, and the new Fine Prize, a $10,000 award to an emerging artist, to Thai artist Apichatpong Weerasthakul. The party, co-chaired by the Women’s Committee members Janet Hunt and Mardi Royston, was a stellar success, grossing more than $350,000. Photography by Mike Mancini.
