Celebrate! A Future Without Cancer - 11/30/10
Philanthropy has long been heralded as a touchstone of leadership, and this year, more than 600 of Pittsburgh’s leaders and lifelong supporters were recognized for their generosity to Hillman Cancer Center, UPMC Cancer Centers, and University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute. The 750 guests gathered at the Monroeville Convention Center for the Hillman Cancer Center’s Celebrate! A Future Without Cancer gala, which celebrated both the honorees and the 25th birthday of the University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute. They also enjoyed a cocktail reception, dinner, and performance by Gladys Knight. The event raised $4 million, adding to the $200 million raised in the last five years. The lifesaving sum will support research on cancer prevention, early detection and treatment, and the expansion of translational research programs and cancer and aging programs.
