Ka-Blam! - 6/5/09
ToonSeum, the Pittsburgh Museum of Cartoon Art and a division of the Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh, hosted its annual fundraiser, KA-BLAM!, a celebration of cartoon arts. Guests at the event mingled amongst life-sized comic book covers and models dressed as comic book super heroes, complete with the evening’s comic book theme. The auditory senses were also indulged by live music from the Whips and DJ Raw. The adults-only event at J. Verno Studios on the South Side also satisfied the 170 attendees’ nostalgic side by providing caricature drawings, balloon artists, and free comic books. A silent auction, which helped raise $7,000, featured original artwork by a variety of artists, a personal caricature drawing by MAD Magazine’s Tom Richmond, and a cartooning workshop, among many more items.
