Pittsburgh Heart Ball - 2/20/10
Residents of Pittsburgh dressed up, donated, and got to the heart of the matter to raise awareness and funds for the American Heart Association at the 2010 Pittsburgh Heart Ball. The Heart of Rock ’n’ Roll themed event brought in a gross amount of nearly $1.2 million to fund cardiovascular disease research, professional and public education, school site programs, and advocacy efforts. A silent auction was held for guests to bid on various items, such as hand-painted pottery made by children affected by heart disease, Pittsburgh Steelers season tickets, and a trip to Costa Rica. Of the nearly $1.2 million earned, $50,000 came from the silent auction. During the evening, Dr. Sudhakar Pesara Reddy was honored with the Peter J. Safer Pulse Award and Lauren Saul received the Mary Ann Scully Excellence Award. The 975 black-tie clad attendees enjoyed dinner, cocktails, and live music by No Bad JuJu, with special guest Joe Grushecky and performances by Point Park University’s Conservatory of Performing Arts.
